THE ANSWER

France is visa-free for Australian citizens: up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen area. There is no passport stamp any more — each entry and exit is logged in the EU's Entry/Exit System (EES), with fingerprints and a facial image taken at the border. As of the 19 July 2026 visa-matrix snapshot. ETIAS, the EU's online pre-travel authorisation, is not in operation yet — the EU says it starts in the last quarter of 2026 and will announce the date months ahead (checked 10 October 2026).
